American Seth Thomas Figural Mantel Clock
This beautiful figural mantle clock was produced in the late 1800’s by respected American clockmaker Seth Thomas of Connecticut. An elegant presentation, in an expertly crafted case of cast metal with polychrome finish and supported on a conforming base of Belgian marble with beveled edges. The case emulates characteristics of the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic periods in unstructured form, earthy colors, and embellishments of florals and foliates. A lovely maiden sitting peacefully is featured atop.
Powering the clock is an 8-day mechanical movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a clear bell strike. The time displays on a white porcelain dial with Roman numerals and spade hands residing within an embossed brass bezel. The dial is signed Mitchell Vance & Co., New York who were a high-quality manufacturer and retailer of artistic metalwork fixtures and clocks.
A functional timepiece and a work of art, this enchanting mantel clock is a testament to American craftsmanship and horology of the late 19th century. Further, it bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
