English Carved Oak Bracket Clock

This enchanting English bracket clock dates to 1870 and was masterfully produced by the renowned Webster family of clockmakers in London. Established in 1711 by William Webster and thriving until the early 20th century, the family is hailed for defining Georgian and Regency clockmaking in England. This fine example is a rather unique presentation of a bracket clock. Crafted with graceful curves in an oak case that has achieved a lovely patina. Wonderfully elaborate and detailed carvings of acanthus leaves and other foliates, acorns, pinecones, vines, and cross hatching embellish the front of the case.

Keeping the time within is a high-quality 8-day, 2-train fusée movement with a pleasing gong strike marking the hour. The time displays on an engraved brass dial with Roman numerals and whip and fleur de lys hands. The dial and the movement are both signed. Further, this clock bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty.

An exceptional bracket clock that blends artistic and horological prowess and is an enduring testament to the excellence of English clockmaking.
