American Ansonia Open Well Wall Clock

A very decorative American antique wall clock crafted in the late 1800’s by the Ansonia Clock Company. Ansonia is known to have produced its highest-quality clocks during that time period. This beautiful open-well form clock has a stately presence. It is elaborately ornamented in great detail with various motifs done in relief, repoussé, and gilt bronze ormolu.

An eight-day, two-weight driven movement keeps the time, and announces the hour and half-hour with a pleasing strike on a tuned gong. The time displays on the ornate repoussé brass dial fitted with porcelain cartouch numerals and bold fleur de lys hands. The weights also have a decorative brass-finished twist design. As a nod to provenance, the clock bears a small commemorative plaque for the historic Detroit Club. And finally, this fine Ansonia wall clock is fully restored and carries a one-year warranty.
