French Gilt Bronze Cartel Wall Clock

A beautiful French cartel clock fashioned after L.V.E. Robert and created by the renowned Delafontaine Foundry.  It features two exquisitely depicted angels surrounding the clock dial.  Their large wings have wonderful feather detail.  The outer wing of each angel gracefully crosses to form the top of the clock.  “Elias” Robert was exceptional at sculpting figures.

This clock has an 8-day mechanical movement that strikes a bell at the hour and half hour.  The porcelain dial, signed “Delafontaine, Paris”, has black Roman numerals and moon hands.  It is worth noting that the Delafontaine foundry was a direct contender with Barbedienne for producing high quality art.

This French gilt bronze cartel clock is a wonderful marriage of art and function.  It is restored and comes with a one year warranty.
