Austrian Vienna Bronze of Semi Nude Dancer by Titze
This early 20th century Vienna bronze sculpture depicts a semi-nude dancer in dynamic movement atop a raised marble base. The figure exudes and celebrates characteristics of the more liberal attitudes of women in the early Art Deco era. The colors of the marble base compliment the piece perfectly.
Exhibiting the expertly detailed and life-like craftsmanship associated with Vienna bronzes, and with a cold painted finish in subtle colors on the skirt, hair, and accessories. Cold painting was a specialty of Vienna, Austria during this period. It is a process of painting the finished piece without further heating and is not found on other bronzes. This piece is signed Titze on the back of the dancer’s skirt and is also stamped and numbered on the underside of the skirt.
