French Large-Scale Burl Walnut and Iron Ormolu Wall Regulator Clock
This impressive French wall regulator displays the grandeur and craftsmanship of late 19th-century horology. Housed in a hand-carved walnut case adorned with unique, patinated cast-iron ormolu, the clock features intricate scrollwork, foliate motifs, and a finely modeled classical mask crest. The architectural presence of the case is balanced by the refined artistry, making it a striking focal point for any collection or interior.
The wood dial displays the time upon Roman porcelain cartouche numeral medallions and elegant pierced brass hands. Behind the glazed lower door, a polished brass and steel temperature-compensating gridiron pendulum swings in a stately rhythm, a hallmark of precision timekeeping. The 8-day movement is accompanied by a resonant gong that strikes on both the hour and half-hour.
