American and English Monumental Hall Clock by Elliott of London

A magnificent Art Nouveau hall clock by esteemed clockmaker Elliott of London.  Hall clocks are substantial in size and were meant to impress — a statement of prestige and achievement.  Certainly this fine clock of the progressive Art Nouveau era is no exception.  Expertly crafted with deep relief carvings overall and gilt highlights.  Further to its impressive artistry are the very high quality mechanics of the eight day movement that chimes at the quarter hours.  The chimes can be set to either Westminster or Whittington.  The case features a glass panel to observe the 3 weights and 9 tubular bells.

Within the bonnet of the clock resides an equally artistic and impressive face. The brass dial features silvered chapter rings, cast Arabic numerals and spandrels, and serpentine hands.  The arch displays a hand-painted moon dial.  The back plate of the movement is signed “JJ Elliot, 121&123 Rosebery Ave, London, #6521.”  Further, it is marked “H&H”, which indicates Harris and Harrington, who were agents in the United States for J.J. Elliot & Co. of London.

This terrific clock has been restored and comes with a one year warranty.
