American Rare Capital Cuff Music Box

The Capital Cuff represents a unique transitional period of music box production. These unusual music machines were made for a short period at the end of the 1800s and play a “cuff” shaped disc, named for its resemblance to a shirt cuff. Much like their contemporaries, the flat disc music box, the Capital Cuff produces sound in a similar fashion. Projections punched into the cuff protrude outward, spinning a line of star wheels that pluck a musical comb along the base. This result is a music box both charming in sound and visually intriguing to watch. This Model C Capital Cuff dates to 1889 and rests in a stylish oak case with the original watercolor picture on the inside lid depicting an idyllic winter country scene.

This music box bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
