German Art Deco Bronze Sculpture “Danseuse Au Voile” by Johann Philipp Ferdinand Preiss
Berlin artist Johann Philipp Ferdinand Preiss captures the very essence of Art Deco energy in this wonderful bronze sculpture. Preiss was considered the most important sculptor in Germany, was highly regarded throughout Europe for his sculpture work and exceptional ivory carving skills, and remains one of the most important sculptors of the Art Deco era.
This wonderful piece depicts the female Art Deco dancer in a striking outstretched pose with a long voile scarf, a popular art and sculptural theme of the era. Preiss presents her with striking presence and lovely, sinuous musculature and agility. The rich bronze color is accented by the earthy green patina of the dancer’s costume and fluid scarf. The sculpture is signed by the artist and raised on a variegated marble plinth base.
A beautiful decorative or art collector’s piece that embodies the exuberance of the Art Deco movement.
