Framed Buzza Motto with Prose to “Father” by J. P. McEvoy
This wonderful piece is known as a Buzza Motto, a popular specialty item produced in the 1920s by the Buzza Company and inspired by the greeting card industry. Buzza Mottos paired written sentiment with lithographed art of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. This special example portrays sentimental prose dedicated to Father written by acclaimed American writer J. P. McEvoy. The sentiment is centered amidst a lovely Art Nouveau illustration of ripened grapevines and a rural estate detail; richly colored and embellished with gold highlights. Presented within a foliate embellished wood frame and in excellent condition overall. These mottos are highly collectible, particularly those of well-known authors.
J. P. McEvoy launched his prolific career writing greeting cards and progressed to editor, author, poet, playwright, screenwriter, and comic strip writer. An American master of whit, whimsy, and humor.
