English Flame Mahogany Two-Weight Tavern Clock by P. Llewellin

This handsome English tavern clock by P. Llewellin of Bristol dates to the mid-1800s and sits in an elegant flame mahogany case. The clock has tall, slender proportions and is crowned by a distinctive octagonal hood that frames the large painted dial signed “P. Llewellin, Bristol.” Bold Roman numerals and dark hands provide excellent contrast against the white dial, giving the clock a strong, highly legible presence.

Richly grained mahogany is showcased beautifully along the case and door. Carved foliate details flank the base of the hood, adding a decorative flourish while keeping the dramatic wood grain and architectural form as the focus. Driven by a two-weight movement, this substantial 47-inch wall clock is a wonderful example of the large wall clocks that once provided an easily read display of time in public and commercial interiors.

This clock has been restored and carries a one-year warranty.
