Swiss Jaeger-LeCoultre “Marina” Model Atmos Clock
An exceptional Swiss Jaeger-LeCoultre Marina Atmos clock, combining one of the firm’s most ingenious movements with an unusually decorative mid-century case. The Atmos draws its energy from minute changes in room temperature. As the temperature rises and falls, a hermetically sealed capsule expands and contracts, continually winding the mainspring and allowing the clock to run without conventional winding.
The “Marina” model transforms this mechanical achievement into a work of decorative art. Its reverse-carved acrylic panels are gilded against a deep black ground, creating scenes with remarkable depth and dimension. A fisherman seated along a riverbank appears across the front, while Moorish idol fish swim among kelp, starfish, and coral along the sides. The transparent center of the dial leaves the intricate Atmos movement visible, beautifully balancing the clock’s technical ingenuity with its striking Asian-inspired decoration.
