Hand-Carved Lion & Cornucopia Console Table

Abundant carving and a warm antique parchment finish give this console table an opulent yet inviting character. Sculpted lion heads crown dramatic cabriole legs, their flowing manes cascading down to boldly modeled paw feet. Across the apron, garlands laden with fruit and foliage sweep toward a central woven basket overflowing with flowers and produce, complemented by cornucopia motifs and scrolling ornament. Open spaces beneath the garlands lighten the elaborate design, allowing the individual carvings to stand out.

A tooled leather top provides a smooth counterpoint to the richly decorated base, with delicate borders following its gently shaped outline. The parchment finish settles into the carved recesses, emphasizing the lions’ features, curling leaves, and rounded fruit. Place it in an entryway, behind a sofa, or beneath a mirror; this handsome console offers an elegant setting for lamps, sculpture, and a variety of display and function.
