Austrian Gilt Bronze Nude Figural Sculpture Entitled “Ball Player”

This Austrian gilt bronze nude figural sculpture entitled “Ball Player” features a woman holding a ball in one outstretched arm above her head. She looks down at a second balanced ball that rolls down her other arm to her waiting hand. This beautiful work is both graceful and sensuous. The sculpture stands atop a gilt bronze base encircled by a Greek key design. Finally, the entire bronze work is on a granite base.

The initials “BW” and signature Lugerth are engraved into the bronze base. The artist is Ferdinand Lugerth (1885-1915), a German impressionist and modernist sculptor.
