American Regina 15 1/2″ Disc Music Box
In the late 19th and early 20th century, the Regina Music Box Company distinguished itself as the foremost American manufacturer of the disc music box. This very attractive example is presented in a richly grained oak case that has achieved a lovely patina. Fine craftsmanship is displayed with the treatment of gadrooned moldings, carved corner accents, applied rectangular moldings, and beadwork trim. A most unique feature of this box is the addition of a decorative pierced metal grill around the domed lid, which not only serves as a lovely embellishment, but also accommodates musical projection.
A double comb spring wound mechanism plays the 15 1/2″ discs. The double comb allows for twice as many note strikes, producing a more complex sound. The 15 1/2″ disc was and still is the most widely available size, with hundreds of antique discs and over 1,000 titles available on newly produced discs.
This enchanting musical mechanical antique bears a complete restoration and a one-year warranty. Further, a selection of six antique discs is included.
