English Brazilian Rosewood Arch Top Bracket Clock

This wonderfully elegant bracket clock dates to the 1830s during the brief reign of William IV. Crafted in exotic Brazilian rosewood veneer it maintains Regency era styling. The arch-top case is sleek overall with a molded plinth base raised on turned ball feet. The sides are fitted with fish scale fretwork panels lined with red fabric and brass foliate motif handles. Gilt and gold leaf trims lend subtle accent to the case and compliment the richly grained rosewood.

Keeping the time within is an 8-day chain-driven double fusée movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a clear bell strike. The backplate for the movement has a lovely engraved border. A large Roman numeral chapter ring with Breguet style hands displays the time on an ecru dial mask, and a small foliate outlined Strike/Silent indicator is situated above. Further the dial bears the signature of Wolferstan, Chichester.

This beautiful timepiece has undergone a full restoration and is a testament to the fine craftmanship and elegance of English clockmaking.
