English Miniature Bracket Clock
This elegant English bracket clock was produced in the mid 1860s by John Carter’s clock company of London. A beautiful example crafted with mahogany and burl walnut accent. The case takes on smaller proportions than most bracket clocks, and is a lovely blend of Regency and Victorian styling. Having a broken arch top over a case with canted brass columns, a hinged circular glass dial door, embellishment of inlaid burl walnut framed by brass inlay, and a molded base raised on brass pad feet.
An 8-day chain fusée movement powers the clock within while the time displays on a beautifully engraved brass dial with foliate center, Roman numerals, and blued steel quatrefoil hands.
The movement’s back plate is signed Carter, 16 Cornhill London. John Carter was a well regarded clock and chronometer maker. He received several horological awards, served three years as Master of the Clockmakers’ Company, and also became a prominent figure in London civic life.
And finally, this fine looking English bracket clock bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
