French Cast Brass Bracket Clock by LeRolle Frères
This handsome French mantel clock exudes the refinement of high-quality French horology. The ornate cast brass case features 4 canted corners appointed with sculptural caryatid females. The side panels are ornamented with applied sculptural crowned masks and descending bell flowers on a black velvet ground. Overall the case is richly embellished with expertly chased foliates and trims along with ormolu foliates, spire-top finials, and foliate toupie feet. The carry handle atop is also artfully formed of caryatid female figures.
Keeping the time within this luxurious French clock is an 8-day movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a bell strike. The time displays on an ornate cast brass dial with porcelain Roman numeral cartouche and blued steel trident hands. Mini porcelain plaques within the dial indicate the maker, LeRolle Fres., Paris. The dial is situated against a black velvet ground accented with brass spandrels.
Having roots in the bronze foundry business LeRolle Frères employed sculptors to achieve the exceptional decorative characteristics of their creations. This clock is a perfect embodiment of their work. As a premier firm, LeRolle participated and won awards at major expositions. Some of their works have been acquired by major museums.
In addition to the artistic finery of this timepiece, it has also undergone a full servicing and carries a 1-year warranty.
