Georgian Pearl and Diamond Insect Brooch
This unique insect brooch dates to the 1830s, toward the end of the famous Georgian era. Often hard to come by, Georgian jewelry is known for being handcrafted by highly skilled artisans. It is also known for natural stones and pearls, as it was too early to be otherwise. Nature themes — flowers, birds, and bugs — were popular. Such is the case with this intriguing winged insect pin. Lustrous pearls were used to highlight the body and wings, while 36 old mine cut diamonds were set strategically for contrast, sparkle, and detail. A combination of 14K yellow gold and sterling silver further enhances the artistry. No doubt a great deal of time and effort went into the crafting this wonderful piece.
Additionally, this period brooch comes in its original satin and velvet-lined box from a period jewelry establishment.
