German Black Forest Mantel Clock
This beautiful Black Forest mantel clock dates to the 1860’s and is a wonderful example of the extraordinary craftsmanship the region is known for. The nicely proportioned case of walnut depicts a dramatic scene with a threatening hawk atop while a valiant rooster takes his stance to protect his hen below, all within a marvelous display of finely carved woodland flora and baskets.
Keeping the time within is an 8-day mechanical movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a bright bell strike. The time displays on a conforming wood dial fitted with brass Roman numerals and brass trident style hands. And finally, this impressive Black Forest mantel clock bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
