German Rare Mermaid Model Wall Clock By Lenzkirch

This exceptional wall clock by the Lenzkirch Clock Company of Germany features unique style and impressive design. The elaborate, heavily carved architectural form case is crafted of rich walnut and features a carved balcony, turned columns, and spires, evoking the elements of a dramatic cathedral. The lavish original ormolu adorns the clock throughout in the form of floral garlands, whimsical faces, and Rococo-inspired acanthus leaves.

Powering the clock is an 8-day movement that strikes the hour and half-hour on a tuned gong. The time displays on Roman numerals upon a silvered dial decorated with elaborate scrollwork. A fancy cast brass pendulum with a cherub at the center swings below the dial creating further ornamentation. Finally, the namesake for this clock comes from the horn-playing mermaid finial surmounting the clock in the perfect finishing touch.
