German Rare Symphonion Wall Clock

This superlative German wall clock is beautifully crafted in black walnut. Highly decorative, it features fine carvings and turnings throughout to include an arched pediment, reeded and turned half-columns on plinths, applied shell and scroll embellishment, and finials. Within the impressive case, an 8-day mechanical movement keeps the time and strikes a bell at the hour and half-hour. The time displays on a silvered and engraved brass dial with stylized Arabic numerals and elaborate pierced hands.

Further, the lower door conceals a Symphonion 12″ disc music box with double-comb sublime harmony movement that emits a lovely, rich sound. The music box can be set to play at the hour, or simply at will. This rare Symphonion wall clock is a delightful treasure of skilled craftsmanship, musical harmony, and horology.
