German Rare Upright Imperial Symphonion Disc Music Box

A beautiful and rare upright Symphonion playing 27-1/2 inch discs accompanied by twelve saucer bells. The Symphonion Company is credited with producing the first disc musical box. Symphonion sound quality is unique and superb.

This model presents in a lustrous mahogany case in two parts. The upper case features a flat top with molded cornice topped by a spool-turned baluster gallery and finials at the four corners. The two glazed doors beneath are flanked by turned and fluted columns and have lovely floral and scrolling fretwork and detail. The interior is fitted with a vertical double musical comb and six saucer bells fitted horizontally on each side. The soundboard stamped “Symphonion Mfg. Co., N.Y.” Registered with Serial No. 12610. The lower case has a drop-down door revealing a handy disc storage area. It is also flanked by handsome turned and fluted columns.

This fine musical mechanical antique bears a full restoration, a one-year warranty, and includes six discs. The deep rich tone of the melodies played on these magnificent machines is simply unparalleled.
