Rare American Hamilton 21 Marine Chronometer Master Clock

Since its invention in 1761 by Englishman John Harrison, the marine chronometer has been used for navigational purposes.  Its precision and reliability for accuracy to within seconds is truly remarkable.  This rare Hamilton Model 21 functioned as the master clock on board.  It would send an electrical impulse to a series of other clocks on board every 20 seconds to keep them all perfectly synchronized.

This Hamilton Master Clock has a 14 jewel chain fusee driven movement and detent escapement with poised balance wheel.  The engraved silvered dial has Arabic numerals, seconds dial, and winding status indicator for the 56 hour power reserve.  Additionally, it is signed “Hamilton, Lancaster, PA., USA” with a serial number 8398, and dated 1941.

This rare chronometer comes fully restored and with a one year warranty.
