Here is a watch that was part of the first trend to stylize the wrist watch. In the early 1900’s the Tonneau shape, or barrel shape (think wine barrel) inspired a new form in wrist watches. High end watchmakers interpreted the shape as a fashionable alternative to the traditional round watch. The new shape conformed more to the curve of the wrist with sleek, elegant lines.
Crafted in 14K yellow gold by top-notch Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co., this watch has a 17 jewel movement. Fully restored, it retains the original silvered enamel printed dial with stylized Arabic numerals and blued steel leaf hands. Additionally this watch comes with an 18 month warranty. It is a wonderful and elegant piece of watchmaking history.
