American Ansonia Mantel Clock
This lovely mantel clock was produced by the Ansonia Clock Company of Connecticut during their peak production years of the 1880s. At that time, Ansonia was one of the largest and most popular clock manufacturers in America, offering a stylish assortment of quality timepieces. This fine example features a rare onyx case and skeletonized escapement. The case is appointed with a large onyx and cast brass urn finial atop, cast brass side carry handles, and raised on embellished cast brass feet.
Keeping the time within is a ruby-jeweled, 2-train, 8-day movement that strikes a tuned gong at the hour and half-hour. The time displays on an ornate gilt cast brass dial with cartouche Roman numerals and fleur de lys hands within a decorative embossed surround. This exceptional Ansonia clock also bears a full restoration and a one-year warranty.
