American Castor Set with Root Beer Colored Bottles

The castor set is a charming and beautiful piece of the past, yet still very practical, decorative and useful today.  Established as essential tableware in the Victorian era, they varied in bottle quantities and then later in bottle colors.  The most popular set would be on a silver-plated stand and comprised of two bottles for oils or vinegars, salt and pepper shakers, and a mustard pot with silver-plated spoon.  Such is the case with this lovely set.  Furthermore this castor set not only features rare root beer colored bottles with beautiful etching, but also a bell for service.  It was made by Meridan Silver Plate Company and hand chased with a graceful leaf design.  A beautiful and highly collectible piece of American Victorian tableware.
