American Rare Chariot Condiment Set

A charming piece of the past, this splendid condiment set dates to the late 1800’s. A rare and special piece with the silver-plated holder fashioned as a chariot and fitted with prized cranberry glass condiment containers in the thumbprint pattern. The wheels are indeed functional, which makes the whole process of passing the condiments effortless. Caster sets were an essential on every Victorian dining table from the humble to the elaborate. The artistry of this distinctive example would have placed it in an affluent household.

Simpson, Hall & Miller of Connecticut crafted this fabulous silver-plated set. Featuring hand-chased floral embellishments, scrollwork, and an ethereal maiden centered in the fretwork handle. Comprised of three oil and vinegar cruets with clear glass stoppers, a salt and pepper with silver-plated tops, and a mustard pot with silver-plated lid and ladle.

Elegant, practical, and a wonderfully unique piece of the gracious American Victorian past.
