American Toledo Three-Pound Candy Scale in Deep Red & Brass

Deep red paint, delicate orange pinstriping, and gleaming brass give this American candy scale the charm of an old-fashioned confectionery counter. Made by the Toledo Computing Scale Co. of Ohio, its sculptural form pairs a broad, fan-shaped dial with a nickel-plated weighing pan, all supported on an elegant cast brass base with cabriole legs. Black accents emphasize the sweeping contours, while ornamental flourishes and prominent Toledo lettering enrich the colorful finish.

The shopkeeper’s dial features a detailed price-calculating chart, allowing the cost of a purchase to be read according to its weight and price per pound. On the opposite side, a separate weight display faces the customer above the reassuring inscription, “Honest Weight Shown Above.” A built-in level on the base assisted with proper positioning for accurate weighing.

With its jewel-like color and graceful proportions, this scale makes a delightful focal point in a kitchen, a candy shop, or a collection celebrating the artistry of the American general store.
