American Victor III 78 RPM Phonograph

An iconic example of early American recorded-sound technology, this Victor III phonograph dates to circa 1910. Its hand-wound mechanism plays 78 RPM records, projecting the music acoustically through an imposing brass trumpet horn. The horn retains its original black-painted exterior, dramatically contrasted by the gleaming brass bell.

The mechanism is housed in a richly figured quarter-sawn oak case ornamented with fluted corner columns and molded trim. The original Victor label features Nipper listening intently to “His Master’s Voice,” one of music history’s most recognizable trademarks. Its original nickel-plated tonearm and reproducer remain in place, completing this handsome and highly evocative machine.

Fully restored and accompanied by ten records, the phonograph carries a one-year warranty.
