Ceramic Sculpture of a Recumbent African Bongo by Heidi Uotila

This beguiling ceramic sculpture of an African bongo antelope was masterfully hand-sculpted and painted by noted wildlife sculptor Heidi Uotila. The bongo is classified as the largest, most colorful, and most sociable of the African forest antelopes. Due to the refined skills of Ms. Uotila, one need only observe this fantastic sculpture for a realistic portrayal of the unique mammal with its striking reddish-brown coat and markings. A quick search of the Bongo makes for an interesting read.

Heidi Uotila has drawn inspiration from a series of safaris from Alaska to Africa, and credits the wildlife encounters with enriching her ability to capture animal likenesses so well. She is known for using dental tools to craft the animals’ delicate facial features in such marvelous detail and paints with oils. This impressive sculpture is signed, numbered, and dated.
