English One-of-a-Kind Scroll Form Skeleton Clock by E. Godsmark
This handsome English skeleton clock dates to 1960 and is a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted design by E. Godsmark of the Borrowash village in the Derbyshire district of England. Provenance dictates that this marvelous clock was purchased directly from the maker, E. Godsmark, who certainly had a penchant for clock making.
Keeping the time is an 8-day, 2-train, chain-driven fusée movement that marks the hour and half-hour with a clear bell strike from a trefoil tipped hammer. Breguet-style hands point to the time on a brass-outlined and silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals. The stylish scroll frame of this skeleton clock exhibits a unique flourish of artistry in the bold scrolls and open disc pendulum. Presented overall on a walnut base raised on turned brass feet under a blown glass dome.
This unique clock perfectly blends functionality and art; an exceptional addition to any collection or decor as a sophisticated focal point.
