European Hand Carved Walnut Sideboard
This exceptional sideboard dates to the late 1800s and exudes Renaissance Revival style. Crafted in walnut that has aged to a rich patina and with beautifully ornate deep relief carvings and gadrooned trims throughout.
Featuring a crown molded raised back panel embellished with lovely scrolling foliates and flanked by acanthus leaf detail at the corners. The case is arranged with two drawers centering a foliate swag over two cabinets centering an eagle crest. Each cabinet panel depicts a figural carved medieval battle scene. Acanthus leaves, masks, and draping foliates ornament the outer edges of the case. Supported on a partially open base with wonderful caryatid busts over lion’s paw feet at the front.
This fabulous piece can accommodate a variety of uses in addition to being a beautiful furniture accent.
