European Inkwell on Gilt Brass Stand

This Victorian inkwell on stand is an elegant addition to a desk, a creative workspace, or a collection. The crystal, lidded font with paneled sides and trimmed with gilt brass bands rests centrally within an ornate, footed, gilt, cast brass stand. The cast and pierced stand is a showpiece of scrolling foliates, mythological masks, and scroll-form handles with shell embellishment.  A lovely example of how opulence carried over into functionality in the Victorian household or office, and remains just as functional today.
