European Marble and Bronze Ewer
A wonderful European ewer dating to the late 19th century and created in beautifully veined marble and bronze. Intended for serving wine as evidenced by its slender ovoid body, narrow neck, and wine-themed embellishments. The ewer is situated securely to a matching flat marble base raised on cast bronze paw feet. Decorative elements in the bronze include a swirl pattern on the pedestal and neck, acanthus and laurel leaves, and a grapevine. Further, a witty satyr sits atop the pedestal-form handle, squeezing grapes.
