French Gilt Bronze Desk Clock with Lovebirds

This elegant desk clock embodies the horological and decorative artistry of 1880s French clock-making. Retailled by the illustrious Shreve & Co. of San Francisco, the diminutive gilt bronze case features a captivating pair of lovebirds atop. Ornamentation of hand-chased ormolu floral and foliate swags and large beadwork trim further adorn the case.

Keeping the time within is an 8-day time-only mechanical movement. The time is displays on an elegant hand-painted porcelain dial adorned with floral swag, Arabic numerals, and delicate, pierced, and engraved gilt hands. The dial sits beneath a hinged, convex glass cover within a bezel of glittering glass stones. This delightful timepiece also bears a restoration and a one-year warranty.
