French Sedan Chair Carriage Clock

This unique carriage clock takes the form of an opulent sedan chair. A rare gilt silver dial features black Roman numerals and blued steel hands, displaying the time. The ornate cast-iron repose case is crafted in silver-plated bronze. Frolicking putti and ornate floral motifs adorn the case, with elaborate Rococo arches meeting at a fleur-de-lis at the top. Beveled glass on three sides protects the dial, giving the viewer a glimpse of the intricacies of the clock mechanism. An 8-day movement with a platform escapement strikes the hour and half hour on a tuned gong.
