Oil on Canvas by Mario Jago

This lovely oil on canvas was executed in a neutral color palette and bright touches of color. A mix of fluid and refined brush strokes, combined with the thoughtful balance of warm and cool tones, results in a very eye-catching artwork.

A play of natural light washes in from the left side and lends dimension and shadows to the scene depicting a young lady with fair skin and blonde hair seated casually with legs crossed at the center. The subject is shown at the foot of a bed upon a floral coverlet. Broad, fluid brushstrokes conveying brightly colored flowers on the coverlet are contrasted with the more refined strokes used for the subject, casually attired in blue and red, wearing a pensive expression.

This impressive work is signed in the lower right and is presented in a handsome, classical, gilt composition frame embellished with acanthus leaves, laurel, and beading.
