U.S. Lighthouse Service Post Lantern “B”
An intriguing late 19th-century U.S. Lighthouse Service post lantern, constructed in copper and brass with a substantial clear Fresnel lens designed to intensify and direct its light. Its tall, architectural form is protected by a framework of vertical supports and topped by a large carrying ring, while the beautifully aged metal retains a warm, rich patina. The original burner is no longer present, and the lantern has been fitted with an electric light socket for use today. When illuminated, the ribbed Fresnel lens casts a warm, atmospheric glow, making this an impressive focal point for an entryway, library, covered terrace, or nautical-inspired interior.
