Victorian Carved Angel Skin Coral Brooch-Pendant

This enchanting brooch-pendant is a superbly carved piece of fine angel skin coral. Angel skin coral is prized for its distinctive white-to-light-pink hue and is usually reserved for high-end jewelry. It differs from most coral species as it is sourced from deeper, darker, colder waters.

Rendered in high relief with intricate details, this lovely piece depicts a putti in profile. Its softly modeled features are framed by loose, wavy locks of hair against the background of its finely feathered wings, creating dimension and highlighting the artisan’s remarkable skill.
