Victorian Era Burmese Ruby, Colombian Emerald & Diamond “Toi et Moi” Ring

This exceptional Victorian “toi et moi” ring brings together two of the world’s most historically prized gemstones: a vivid 0.50-carat Burmese ruby and a 0.50-carat emerald-cut Colombian emerald. Celebrated for their intense color, Burmese rubies and Colombian emeralds have long held an especially distinguished place among precious stones. Here, the ruby’s rich crimson hue is beautifully contrasted by the emerald’s vibrant green, creating a pairing that is both dramatic and deeply symbolic—ruby traditionally representing passion and devotion, and emerald associated with love, renewal, and enduring affection.

The French phrase toi et moi, meaning “you and me,” refers to the romantic two-stone design, in which a pair of gemstones is set side by side to represent two lives joined together. Particularly fashionable during the Victorian era, the style lends this circa 1890 ring a wonderfully sentimental character. Each colored gemstone is surrounded by a halo of old mine-cut diamonds, whose individually hand-cut facets produce the soft, lively sparkle so distinctive of 19th-century jewelry. The two clusters are joined by sweeping, diamond-set shoulders that curve gracefully around the finger, completing the design in warm 18K rose gold.

This ring is currently a size 4.5 and can be sized to your needs.
