Victorian Hardstone Cameo Ring

A darling black and white cameo ring from the Victorian era. The cameo was converted from a single earring, giving this lovely lady new life. Crafted in black and white banded hardstone, this cameo contrasts beautifully with the 14K yellow gold. The scrolled and chased mounting of the ring frames the cameo beautifully.

Popularity-wise, the Victorian era was the height of cameos. Queen Victoria absolutely adored these accessories, constantly wearing her cameos out to major public events. Hardstone cameos in particular were cut using steel drills and specialty lathes. This fine process made these specific cameos very expensive, making them a luxury item in their day.
