Viennese Hand Painted Porcelain Plate

A wonderful Viennese cabinet plate true to Royal Vienna style, being of high-quality porcelain and exhibiting exceptional hand painting. The central painting is a characteristically detailed and realistic scene, depicting a lovely young flower vendor offering a blossom to a gentleman drinking his coffee. The painting is framed by a raised gilt border and is signed W. Wider, lower right and on the reverse. Also on the reverse is an underglaze ‘beehive’ mark along with the handwritten painting title which translates to Roman Flower Girl in Greek Cafe. Overall this beautiful plate has a deep raspberry ground adorned with scrolling gilt decoration.
